Elon Musk Says Apple Has 'Fully Resumed' Advertising on Twitter

In a lengthy Twitter Spaces conversation yesterday, Elon Musk said Apple has 'fully resumed' advertising on the platform. He also revealed that Apple is Twitter's biggest advertiser.

So, Apple has fully resumed advertising which is appreciated. Apple is the single biggest advertiser on Twitter historically and presently. So thanks Apple for fully resuming advertising. We are starting to see a lot of other advertisers also resume their spending. I think the problem is they would read all these stories in the media and then think that they were true and they're not true. As it's becoming clear that the media stories about Twitter being some sort of like right-wing hellscape which it absolutely isn't. In fact, there are far fewer bots, far fewer trolls, and it's actually I think way more fun and interesting.

Last week, Musk called out Apple and Tim Cook for allegedly reducing advertising on the platform.

Apple has mostly stopped advertising on Twitter. Do they hate free speech in America?

What's going on here @tim_cook?

Following the tweets, Cook apparently invited Musk to meet with him at Apple Park and resolve any misunderstandings between the two.

---
Thanks @tim_cook for taking me around Apple's beautiful HQ

Good conversation. Among other things, we resolved the misunderstanding about Twitter potentially being removed from the App Store. Tim was clear that Apple never considered doing so.

It's likely that Apple moved quickly to resolve the dispute as it's currently facing strong antitrust pressure at home and abroad; as well as, criticisms over its relationship with China as the country clamps down on citizens. However, it's unclear if Musk and Cook were able to reach an agreement regarding the company's upcoming $8/month subscription. Musk had also criticized Apple for taking a 30% cut of in-app purchases.

In related news, it appears that Amazon also plans to continue advertising on Twitter.

Amazon is also planning to resume advertising on Twitter at about $100m a year pending some security tweaks to the company's ads platform, per a source familiar with the situation.

More information on this per a source familiar: Amazon continued advertising on Twitter throughout the recent turmoil, although some campaigns were paused. The company is looking to increase it's ad spend to $100m a year, as stated in my prior tweet.
