A man was attacked and robbed earlier this week after buying three hundred iPhones from the Fifth Ave Apple Store in New York City, reports 1010 WINS News.
The 27-year-old victim was targeted moments after he left Apple's flagship store at E. 58th Street. Police say he regularly made larges purchases of iPhones as he resells the phones through his small business.
A store clerk bagged 300 iPhone 13s for the customer in three large bags around 1:45am on Monday. As he walked towards his vehicle, a car pulled up alongside him and two men jumped out. They demanded the bags, but the victim fiercely resisted. A struggle ensued and the victim was punched in the nose. The thieves made away with one of the bags containing 125 iPhones valued at $95,000.
Police have yet to release a description of the suspects or their vehicle.
Unfortunately, Apple Store customers have often been the target of thieves. A number of years ago, one Apple customer lost his pinky finger when a thief ran by and ripped an Apple bag out of his hand. We'd advise taking some added safety precautions when leaving the Apple Store with high ticket items, especially in high crime areas.
