Elon Musk has announced that he will give 'general amnesty' to suspended Twitter accounts starting next week.

The move follows an online poll that asked Twitter users, "Should Twitter offer a general amnesty to suspended accounts, provided that they have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam?"
A vast majority of respondents (72.4%) voted to reinstate accounts previously suspended.
With the purchase of Twitter, Musk reportedly aims to restore free speech on the platform. The site's previous management had been widely been criticized for silencing speech they disagreed with or took offence to. Musk will purportedly allow any speech that doesn't break the law.
Despite widespread claims, former Head of Trust and Safety at Twitter, Yoel Roth, revealed that since taking over Musk was censoring more hate speech, not less. It's unclear if unsuspending accounts will put this jeopardy.
Roth also revealed that Apple and Google wield enormous influence over Twitter and will likely shape the decisions the company makes.
