New iPad 10 Users Need Adapter to Charge Apple Pencil

The new iPad 10 has ditched Lightning in favor of USB-C; however, it only supports the first generation Apple Pencil which uses Lightning to charge.

In the press release for the new iPad, Apple notes that a new USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter will be required.

● Apple Pencil (1st generation) is compatible with the new iPad. A new USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter is required for pairing and charging and is included in the box with a new version of Apple Pencil (1st generation) for $99 (US).

● For existing owners of Apple Pencil (1st generation), the USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter is sold separately for $9 (US).

The iPad 10 is already available to pre-order starting at $449. It will be released on October 26. If you want support for the Apple Pencil 2, you'll need to move up to the iPad Air which starts at $559, though it's currently on sale for $519.
