Apple is planning to launch its new M2 iPad Pro models 'in a matter of days', according to a new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros are codenamed J617 and J620.

The new iPads will look similar to the pro model from last year, bringing the same flat-edge design into its fourth year. In contrast, the original iPad Pro design from 2015 only lasted three years. But the current look is slicker and aligns with the design of Apple’s other iPads and the iPhone, so it makes sense to stick with it for now.

The update from M1 to M2 is said to improve performance by around 20%.

Additionally, Apple is working on a new entry-level iPad that will have a USB-C port and a design more similar to the iPad Pro. It will be the largest update to the basic iPad in several years.

Gurman believes we could see iPadOS 16.1 get released around the week of October 24, just ahead of the company's earnings call on October 27. The software update should deliver the delayed Stage Manager multitasking feature which allows for overlapping, resizable windows.

Apple is also expected to update its MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro/Max chips. Gurman suggests this could happen in November.

Finally, Apple also has an M2 Mac mini and an A14 Apple TV with 4GB of RAM in the works. Please download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for more updates on these devices.
