Early reviews of the new iPhone 14 Plus have arrived ahead of its release on October 7, 2022.

The iPhone 14 Plus features a 6.7-inch display, a new dual-camera system, Crash Detection, Emergency SOS via satellite, and better battery life.

Here's a look at some early impressions of Apple's new device...

The Verge
If it’s time for an upgrade and you’ve been eyeing the big iPhone, but you’d rather get the best battery life possible than the very latest features, then the iPhone 14 Plus is for you. It is an iPhone with a really big screen and great battery life for under $1,000. That’s a combination of features that a lot of people will find appealing, and the 14 Plus delivers on its promises.

I'm still a little bummed that it seems like the Mini line had to die to make way for the Plus, because then the iPhone family would have a truly great range of sizes and prices. I should also point out that Google offers a similarly sized screen and a dedicated telephoto lens for the same price in the Pixel 6 Pro (and soon, the Pixel 7 Pro, probably). But I know asking longtime Apple users to switch OSes is pointless. So for all the iPhone fans who just want a familiar device with a bigger screen and outstanding battery life, well then you're in luck because the 14 Plus is your new champion.

CNET
The $899 iPhone 14 Plus is either a big iPhone 14 or a scaled-back iPhone 14 Pro Max. Ever since the iPhone XS Max launched in 2018, there was only one option for those who love big screens: pay top dollar and get a Max model with extra features you might not necessarily need (like a telephoto camera or a high refresh rate display.) I know many CNET readers, friends and co-workers who shelled out $1,100 or more for an iPhone 12 Pro Max or 13 Pro Max because it was the only way to get a phone in the size they wanted. But that changes now.

Tom's Guide
The iPhone 14 Plus is the best iPhone for those who want a large display but are not willing to spend more than a grand for a new handset. And while $899 isn’t cheap, the Plus justifies its premium over the regular iPhone 14 with about 2.5 hours more battery life on a charge. I personally prefer the larger display, which makes watching videos more immersive and gives you a bigger viewfinder and canvas for taking and editing photos. On the other hand, for $200 more the iPhone 14 Pro Max is a superior phone because it gives you a telephoto zoom, always-on display, 120Hz refresh rate and the new Dynamic Island. It’s the phone I would choose with my own money. But if you have less to spend, the iPhone 14 Plus is a great value.

Bigger doesn't always mean better but there's a lot to love about the iPhone 14 Plus and if you think you want the smaller model, we urge you to reconsider. The iPhone 14 Plus' large display, large form factor and large battery make it a truly excellent choice.
