Apple May Not Hold October Event to Launch New iPads, Macs [Gurman]

Apple may unveil its new M2 iPad Pros, MacBook Pros, and Mac minis via press release, rather than holding an October event, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

This year, the company is still expected to unveil:
M2 and M2 Pro Mac minis
M2 Pro and M2 Max 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros
● M2 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros

There have been rumors of an updated Apple TV with an A14 chip and more RAM which Gurman feels could still launch this year; however, he expects the long awaited M2-based Mac Pro won't be released until 2023.

Though there are several products getting updated, the updates are relatively minor. Mainly just improved specs and a processor bump. Gurman doesn't see enough here for an event.

Does Apple really have enough here to make it worth pulling together another highly polished launch event? It seems unlikely. Apple may ultimately end up feeling differently, but I think the company (as of now) is more likely to release its remaining 2022 products via press releases, updates to its website and briefings with select members of the press—rather than via a major iPhone-style keynote.
