Apple Could Announce Big Price Increase for iPhone 14

Apple could announce a big price increase for the iPhone this fall, warns Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives.

"We believe a $100 price increase is coming for the iPhone 14," Dan, of Wedbush Securities, told The Sun. "Prices have been increasing across the whole supply chain, and Cupertino needs to pass these costs to the consumer on this release."

Notably, this is a tricky proposition for Apple because the company is also rumored to be discontinuing the iPhone mini. That means that the starting price for a current generation iPhone would actually jump $200, a huge increase. Apple also has to consider the ever rising cost of living which could also affect its sales.

Currently, the iPhone 13 mini starts at $699 and the iPhone 13 starts at $799. A $100 price increase would have the iPhone 14 lineup start at $899.

"Apple will have some tough decisions to make on pricing on iPhone 14," said Ben, of CCS Insight. "There is no question that production and component costs continue to rise for all consumer electronics makers, and in the case of the UK, exchange rates are a factor too. These elements would suggest a price rise may be necessary. But given the cost of living head-winds Apple may decide that increasing prices could be counterproductive."

Apple is widely expected to unveil four new iPhone 14 models this fall including an iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. It's believed the iPhone 14 Pro will get an A16 processor, a 'pill + hole' cutout design, a 48MP wide camera, a larger camera bump, an autofocus selfie camera, and rounder corners. The iPhone 14 is expected to keep the A15 processor and current notch.

What is crazy is they want you not to buy it as they are struggling with shortages in getting the materials.

Considering their profit margins, Apple does not "NEED" to raise prices. If they do, it's because THEY want to! But if they do, their sales WILL suffer and you can take to the bank!

As much as there are better choices in terms of hardware

If Apple does this I will also, for the first time since the launch of iPhone, NOT be buying the new model. The pandemic caused such a massive rise in living costs for everyone and an iPhone is really a big luxury at this point. There are much cheaper phones with the same or better hardware but we choose to stay loyal. Apple rakes in hundreds of millions of dollars of PROFIT annually. They can just decrease their margins a bit so the consumer can still afford their products. As the saying goes, “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you” Apple should carefully consider their future steps as their products can be replaced by cheaper alternatives and many consumers are already with their backs against the wall in these times.

Apple has never been a mass consumer company so what your saying although lovely doesn’t really make much sense for the company. Yes they target lower ends of the market with for example the iPhone mini or SE series but even their lower end is not really lower end as a whole market view I mean the SE retails £419 that might be what Apple calls Lower end for them but it’s not from a whole market view. So I highly doubt they’ll be willing to decrease their margins by much. At the end of the day it’s like saying Bentley should lower their prices to speak to the “general” market but that will never happen as they want to be seen as a premium company. Apple follows this philosophy android has way more features but doesn’t have the continuity between devices and the polish IOS does.
