Apple is planning to evaluate BOE's OLED display panels for the iPhone 14 this week, reports TheElec. BOE is hoping to receive approval from Apple within the month.

If Apple gives the approval, BOE will start mass production of the panels aimed at the standard model out of the four in the iPhone 14 series, sometime between July and August. This is a couple of weeks behind its South Korean competitors Samsung Display and LG Display which are expected to start mass production near the end of this month.

Notably, BOE was caught modifying Apple's specifications for the OLED panels of the iPhone 13 earlier this year. Despite the incident, it appears Apple has not cancelled the company as a supplier. TheElec reports that BOE recently received re-approval to supply panels for the iPhone 13.

Given the issues with iPhone 13 production, it's likely BOE will receive orders to supply around 5 million panels for the iPhone 14 at most.
