Apple will announce its rumored AR/VR headset in January 2023, followed by pre-orders and a release in 2Q23, according to TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In a post on Twitter, the analyst says Shanghai lockdowns have pushed back the launch from this year to next. This lines up with a recent report from the New York Times.
I believe Apple's AR/MR headset shipping date will postpone to 2Q23 (vs. 1Q23 of market consensus) because Shanghai lockdown interrupts the development. As expected, there were no clues for AR/MR headset at WWDC 2022. Here is my prediction for Apple AR/MR headset schedule.
Here's the predicted schedule: 1. EVT starting from 3Q22. 2. Media event on Jan 2023. 3. Delivery of development toolkit within 2-4 weeks after the event. 4. Starting pre-order in 2Q23. 5. Hitting store shelves before WWDC 2023.
Apple's mixed reality headset is thought to cost upwards of $2000 and feature a powerful M-series chip. Display Supply Chain Consultants predicts it will offer an innovative display configuration using two Micro OLED displays and one AMOLED panel.
