Apple is unlikely to unveil its rumored AR/VR headset at WWDC 2022, according to a new report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The analyst believes the headset is too far away from mass production and an unveiling now would give rival companies more time to copy its design.
It still takes some time before Apple AR/MR headset enters mass production, so I don't think Apple will release AR/MR headset and rumored realityOS at WWDC this year. Apple's competitors worldwide can't wait to see the hardware spec and OS design for Apple's AR/MR headset.
I'm sure that if Apple announces AR/MR headset and its OS at WWDC, competitors will immediately kick off copycat projects and happily copy Apple's excellent ideas, and hit the store shelves before Apple launches in 2023.
Apple purportedly previewed its mixed reality headset for board members earlier this month, suggesting it's nearing release. The mixed reality headset is thought to cost upwards of $2000 and feature a powerful M-series chip. Display Supply Chain Consultants predicts it will offer an innovative display configuration using two Micro OLED displays and one AMOLED panel.
