Apple appears to be switching Apple Cash accounts from Discover to Visa Debit.
Back in 2017, Discover announced that Apple was using its network to enable payments for the newly launched Apple Pay Cash card. The virtual card lets customers send and receive money among friends and family. Received funds are added to the Apple Cash card and can be used to make purchases using Apple Pay in stores, apps, and the on the web.
Notably, users have complained that not all point of sale terminals that accept Apple Pay also work with Discover. This has frustrated users attempting to pay with their Apple Cash balance.
We've now received reports that Apple Cash accounts are being transitioned to the Visa Debit network. This is being shown under 'Card Details' for existing accounts. Additionally, Apple has been updating graphics on the Apple Cash site with Visa Debit branding.
Visa Debit is accepted nearly everywhere making this a significant change for Apple Cash users.
