Apple Gives Key Engineers Bonuses of $100,000 to $200,000 [Report]

Apple is again giving select engineers bonuses of $100,000 to $200,000 in hopes it will help the company retain key talent, reports Bloomberg.

The iPhone maker doled out the bonuses in recent days to a select group of employees in its software and hardware engineering departments, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the move isn’t public. The rewards ranged from around $100,000 to upwards of $200,000 in restricted stock units, with some in the company referring to them as special retention grants.

The bonuses vest over several years and are designed to make it more difficult for employees to leave for competitors. Apple did something similar last December; however, sources say this time around the number of employees receiving the special grants is smaller.


Bloomberg says Apple has seen some attrition in its chip design groups with rivals like Meta stepping up recruitment of engineers. Meta is seeking talent to work on its metaverse ambitions.
