Apple's next generation MacBook Air will still use an M1 chip, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities.
Kuo predicts that the new Macbook Air will go into mass production in late 2Q22 or 3Q22. He says it will have an M1 chip, no mini-LED display, an all-new form factor and more color options.
This contradicts several previous rumors that the new MacBook Air will get an M2 processor. For example, prior to today's event, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman predicted that 2022 would see an M2 MacBook Air, an M2 13-inch MacBook Pro, and a larger iMac Pro. Kuo says a new iMac Pro and Mac Pro aren't coming until next year.
