Apple may be planning to release a new 30W GaN charger this year, according to TF International Securities Ming-Chi Kuo.
Apple may release its next GaN charger in 2022, which supports about 30W and has a new form factor design.
Currently, the 30W charger has a typical Apple power brick design with a plug that folds out of the side. It's possible that the new design might look similar to the popular 20W USB-C charger. Using high-performance gallium nitride (GaN) instead of traditional silicon allows internal components to be closer together, enabling an ultra-compact build.
