Apple is working on a new 'Apple Studio Display' with a higher resolution than the Pro Display XDR, reports 9to5Mac.

While it’s unclear whether the new Apple Studio Display is a replacement for the Pro Display XDR or a new option in the lineup with distinct features, people familiar with the matter told 9to5Mac that the new display has a 7K resolution.

A 7K resolution is higher than the 6K (6016x3384) 32-inch 218 ppi panel used by the Pro Display XDR.

It's unclear if Apple would keep the same size display and increase the pixel density or go with a 36-inch display at the same pixel density.

Sources say that the 'Apple Studio Display' is codenamed J327. That makes it the same display the site reported on in July 2021. It purported features a dedicated A13 chip and Neural Engine.

Notably, sources also tell the site that Apple is working on a new 'Mac Studio' computer. It's possible this display is meant to pair with that device.

Apple is holding a 'Peek performance' special event on March 8. It's unclear if the Apple Studio Display or Mac Studio will be unveiled during the event; however, you can download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for updates.
