Apple is expected to launch new Macs next month and is likely to debut even more models in May/June, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
In his weekly PowerOn newsletter, Gurman tells readers that he expects Apple will release eight new Macs this year.
Macs Expected in 2022
● Mac mini with M1 Pro chip
● 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 chip
● Mac mini with M2 chip
● 24-inch iMac with M2 chip
● Redesigned MacBook Air with M2 chip
● Larger iMac Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips
● Half-sized Mac Pro with equivalent of either two or four M1 Max chips
Since the entry-level MacBook Pro and Mac mini are the oldest devices in the lineup, Gurman expects those will be upgraded next. The iMac Pro launch will likely follow after.
With the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips already on the market, I don’t believe the iMac Pro launch is too distant either. While we’ll get new Macs in March, I’m told Apple is already gearing up for another round of Mac releases around May or June.
Apple will probably save the Mac Pro debut for WWDC in June and ship it in the fall. It's expected to get 20 CPU cores and 64 graphics cores for the first chip and 40 CPU and 128 graphics cores for the second chip.
Finally, it's likely that Apple will unveil the redesigned M2 MacBook Air in time for the holidays. This chip will be faster than the M1 but may retain the same 8-core architecture. Graphics could also get boosted from 7-8 cores to 9-10 cores.
