Apple released a firmware update for AirPods today which brings new Find My features to AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. The build number is 4A400.
AirPods Pro and AirPods Max now support the following Find My features:
● View Location
● Find Nearby
● Play a Sound
● Lost Mode (Mark as Lost)
● Notify When Found
● Notify When Left Behind
To use these features, you'll need to upgrade to the new firmware. You can check the firmware version of your AirPods via the Settings > General > About > AirPods menu. To upgrade your AirPods to the new firmware, try plugging them in to charge near a paired iPhone with Internet connectivity. They'll usually update within five minutes or so.
Although AirPods do not have a U1 chip, they can now be detected by other Apple devices in the area, making it much easier to find your lost headphones. You can even leave a message and contact number for other users when placing your device into lost mode.
