Mac-Chi has announced WhoPaste's first step in time and task integration. WhoPaste version 4.5 adds instant iCal To Dos. The new iCal To Dos can be created with just a control click on Snow Leopard or with a user configurable hot key on Leopard. Mac-Chi has also enhanced the underlying data model and simplified the installation process. The earlier two-step installation process has been replaced with the more familiar and customer-friendly 'drop a file on a folder' process.

"This is our first step in bringing full task and event capabilities to WhoPaste," explains Steve Cronin, CEO of Mac-Chi. Snow Leopard users can easily create an iCal To Do by simply control clicking on any selected text. A small heads up display window opens to gather the user's calendar and due date information and when it is disposed of the user is immediately returned to their process. For Leopard users there is a configurable hot key that permits them to create a To Do from any text on the clipboard. For those cases when you come up with brand new task, WhoPaste 4.5 delivers a single hot key for creating an iCal To Do. None of these actions require iCal to be running nor will they start iCal.

"When we analyzed our 2009 download and installation data we thought we could do better. So we asked our customers and testers to share their opinions. As a result of their feedback we've completely rewritten the installation process", explained Steve. "The original two-step installation process sometimes led to confusion or abandonment, two of the deadly sins in the indie software world." Version 4.5 now uses the familiar 'drop-a-file' mechanism.

Version 4.5 also implements a number of changes to the underlying data model paving the way for more sophisticated extraction rules to be deployed in the coming months. The new model is being implemented now in order to provide the basis for both the desktop and the upcoming iPhone version of WhoPaste.

WhoPaste provides a single universal hot key for creating a new contact in Address Book, Daylite, Entourage, or Google Contacts.

WhoPaste also provides contact extraction from raw text - simply select some text, control-click, and WhoPaste will extract the individual contact data elements automatically.

Additional WhoPaste features include: extraction of multiple contacts directly from spreadsheets, extensive support for Daylite including derived data and opportunity creation, duplicate detection, multiple group assignments, citation capability for data sourcing, international dialing ready phone formatting, pre-built Automator actions, AppleScriptability, and much more.
