Tesla CEO Elon Musk said today that Apple's App Store fees are a tax on the Internet.

He tweeted...

Apple app store fees are a de facto global tax on the Internet. Epic is right.

Notably, this follows Tesla's launch of a full self-driving subscription package that costs $199/month from basic autopilot or $99/month from enhanced autopilot.

---
Full Self-Driving capability is now available as a monthly subscription.

Upgrade your Model 3, VIN ending in ******, for $199 a month (excluding taxes) to experience features like Navigate on Autopilot, Auto Lane Change, Auto Park, Summon and Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control.

The currently enabled features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous.
---

If Tesla offers the subscription package via in-app purchase it could be forced to give Apple a 30% cut of those subscription fees. This is clearly something Elon isn't a fan of.

In addition to Apple's big legal battle with Epic Games, the company also facing numerous antitrust investigations over it's App Store practices. You can download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for the latest developments.
