Apple will purportedly switch to LTPO displays for more than one of its next generation iPhone models, according to Ross Young, founder/lead analyst of DisplaySearch.
In a tweet today, Young said:
Heard some rumors in the industry and media that there would only be one LTPO model from Apple later this year. Can confirm that is not the case. Apple fans can relax!
LTPO (Low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) displays allow for their refresh rate to be dynamically changed without additional hardware components. This saves power by allowing the display to use low refresh rates when possible.
Apple is expected to use LTPO panels for both the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The panels will likely be produced by Samsung and support a 120Hz refresh rate.
