Apple has placed orders with TSMC for production of a new Mac processor using the company's 4nm process, reports DigiTimes. Additionally, TSMC will soon begin production of an A15 processor for the 'iPhone 13' using its 5nm+ process.
According to the report, 4nm (N4) volume production is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2021, ahead of its previously set timeframe of 2022.
It has been learned that 4nm has already been launched in advance. Mass production will be officially launched in the fourth quarter of 2021. The first wave of production capacity will be fully packaged by Apple. According to the schedule, it should be used for new products such as the MacBook series with a comprehensive improvement in performance.
As expected, TSMC will continue to make processors for the next generation iPhone.
The 5nm enhanced version, which belongs to the 5nm family, has also been launched earlier than the original schedule. It will continue to be adopted by Apple’s next-generation iPhone 13 series A15 chips. It is expected to be fully mass-produced at the end of May.
