Images of an unreleased iPhone X prototype in 'Jet Black' have purportedly surfaced online via Mr·White.
The leaker posted four photos showing the iPhone X in Space Gray next to the alleged prototype in Jet Black saying, "They have tried iPhone X Jet Black before".
Apple released an iPhone 7 in Jet Black back in 2016. The color was popular but suffered from micro abrasions.
The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. It's unclear if durability issues resulted in Apple not releasing the jet black iPhone X or if some other factors were at play.
