Taiwanese carriers have already launched pre-orders for the new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro and they are reporting significant demand, according to DigiTimes.
Telecom operators, including Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) and Taiwan Mobile, all began taking pre-orders on October 14, with CHT saying it sold out its pre-sales quota within 45 minutes.
FET said it received three times the number of first day pre-orders it received for the previous generation iPhones. 50% of its orders were for the iPhone 12 Pro; whereas, CHT said that 65% of its pre-orders were for the iPhone 12.
It's believed that the new iPhone will accelerate replacement demand for 5G smartphone models. Sources say the number of 5G subscribers in Taiwan could accelerate to one million by the end of the year or Q1 2021 at the latest.
iPhone 12/Pro pre-orders are set to go live tomorrow at 5:00am PDT and 8:00am EDT. Please download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for updates.
