Apple will purportedly make some type of announcement on Tuesday, September 8th; however, it's unclear what that announcement will be.
Leaker Jon Prosser recently tweeted:
Apple press release is currently scheduled for Tuesday (September 8) at 9:00am EST — though, I should note that it’s not locked in until the press has been briefed, day of. I’ll tweet early that morning to update you if it changes.
Last month, Prosser said that Apple plans to unveil a new Apple Watch and iPad via press release this week.
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has also addressed the possibility of an announcement tomorrow saying:
I wouldn’t get too excited about rumors of new Apple products appearing this week. More likely I think: an announcement of the upcoming (of course virtual) September iPhone/Apple Watch event.
Apple has confirmed that the next generation iPhone will be a few weeks late; however, it's possible the company could still announce new devices in September with a release date set in October.
