Apple is purportedly facing difficulties in sourcing 120Hz driver ICs for iPhone, according to display analyst Ross Young. This could mean that the iPhone 12 will launch with a 60Hz display.
Hearing that Apple can get 120Hz Pro panels, but not 120Hz driver ICs. So they will either have to come up with a fix which will be difficult, wait for 120Hz driver ICs and delay the launch possibly significantly or launch with 60Hz. We are hearing they will launch with 60Hz.
Young notes that Apple can move mountains and 120Hz can't be ruled out entirely.
Not a simple issue in this case. Apple can move mountains, so will see. Given how badly some of you want 120Hz, perhaps they are listening will delay the launch until 120Hz is ready. Been a crazy year already...
Apple is widely rumored to be launching four new iPhone models this year including a 5.4-inch 'iPhone 12', a 6.1-inch 'iPhone 12 Max', a 6.1-inch 'iPhone 12 Pro', and a 6.7-inch 'iPhone 12 Pro Max'. Last month, the company revealed that the iPhone launch will be a 'few weeks later' this year; however, rumors suggest the company could split the release into two stages.
