Apple Confirms New iPhones Will Arrive Later Than Usual

Posted July 30, 2020 at 10:45pm by iClarified
Apple confirmed that this year's new iPhone models will arrive later than usual during its Q3 FY20 earnings call today.

"As you know, last year we started selling new iPhones in late September," Apple CFO Luca Maestri said. "This year, we project supply to be available a few weeks later."

A delayed release for the iPhone 12 has been rumored for months. Qualcomm even hinted at it in their earnings yesterday. It's unusual for Apple to acknowledge a product delay; however, the coronavirus shutdowns have had significant effect on supply chains.

Apple is expected to unveil four iPhones this fall including a 5.4-inch 'iPhone 12', a 6.1-inch 'iPhone 12 Max', a 6.1-inch 'iPhone 12 Pro', and a 6.7-inch 'iPhone 12 Pro Max'. More details on rumored specifications can be found here.

I hope that Apple doesn’t delay the release of iOS 14 to coincide with the new iPhone’s launch.

Yeah I normally would have done that, but I’ve learned the hard way not to run a beta on a personal-use device. There’s so many bugs and it’s usually about one-week in I find one that Apple won’t be fixing until the GM. Once the GM comes out I’ll install that since it’s the same as the 14.0 in this case.
