Apple is planning to release a 13-inch MacBook Pro and 13-inch MacBook Air with Apple Silicon by the end of the year, according to a new report from DigiTimes. This aligns with a recent report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who made a similar prediction.
The site says Taiwan's supply chain will begin component shipments for the new notebooks in Q3 2020 including backlit units (BLUs).
As Apple is set to release 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, powered by Apple Silicon, by the end of this year, total shipments of MacBook lineup are expected to reach 16-17 million units in 2020 compared to 14.5-15.5 million units shipped a year earlier, the sources estimated.
Notably, DigiTimes also predicts strong sales for a new 10.8-inch iPad which will feature 'high performance CPUs' at more affordable prices.
Radiant Opto-Electronics will reportedly ship BLUs for both the new MacBook and iPad devices while LG, BOE, and Sharp will supply panels for the iPad.
