YouTube TV has announced a big $15/month price hike for its streaming service, bringing the monthly cost to $64.99/month.

The increase comes as the service adds BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, TV Land and VH1. BET Her, MTV2, MTV Classic, Nick Jr., NickToons, and TeenNick are set to arrive at a later date.

The new price takes effect today, June 30, for new members. Existing subscribers will see these changes reflected in their subsequent billing cycle on or after July 30.

Here's what the company had to say about the price increase:

We don’t take these decisions lightly, and realize how hard this is for our members. That said, this new price reflects the rising cost of content and we also believe it reflects the complete value of YouTube TV, from our breadth of content to the features that are changing how we watch live TV. YouTube TV is the only streaming service that includes a DVR with unlimited storage space, plus 6 accounts per household each with its own unique recommendations, and 3 concurrent streams. It's all included in the base cost of YouTube TV, with no contract and no hidden fees.

When YouTube TV first launched it cost $35/month. Since then there have been multiple price hikes bringing it to $50/month. Today's starting cost of $65/month brings the service near traditional cable pricing and may result in users reconsidering their subscription. The company says users can cancel or pause their subscription here.

Commenting on why channels aren't offered a la carte, YouTube says, "Our goal is to be transparent and we hear your questions. While we'd like to offer channels a la carte, it's not fully up to us. In order to get new channels, we negotiate with content providers (networks) to license their content. Most networks require that we include their full portfolio of channels to subscribers, which increases the overall price of the service. We’re committed to continuing to innovate our service and offer flexible options to members in the future."
