Apple is planning to launch its third generation AirPods in the first half of 2021, according to a new report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The new AirPods will reportedly feature a similar design to the AirPods Pro which have shorter stems and silicone tips. It's possible the AirPods 3 won't feature noise cancellation in order to keep the price down.
Kuo believes that iPhone 12 models will not come with EarPods in the box; however, the analyst suggests Apple will launch a promotional program in the second half of 2020 which could offer a discount on the purchase of AirPods alongside a new iPhone.
Apple's AirPods 2 are currently on sale for $139 with a regular charging case and $169 with a wireless charging case. They retail at $159 and $199, respectively.
