Apple has announced that it will open 20 out of its 21 retail stores in Australia on Thursday. The company will also reopen its only retail store in Austria tomorrow.

“To start, we will open with additional safety procedures including temperature checks, social distancing and an adjusted schedule, to ensure customers and employees continue to stay healthy,” Apple said in a statement to Bloomberg. “Our social distance protocol means a limited number of visitors in the store at one time so there may be a delay for walk-in customers.”

Apple is recommending that customers still buy its products online for delivery as reopened stores will initially be focused on technical support.

There are 458 stores outside of China that need to be reopened and Apple expects to open 'many' of them in May. Apple CEO Tim Cook told Bloomberg that some U.S. locations would open by the middle of the month.
