Apple is planning to launch a new 23-inch iMac and 11-inch iPad in the second half of 2020, reports the China Times.

Unlike the past two years, Apple's iPhone, MacBook, Mac Pro and other new products are mainly positioned in the high-end market. This year's major product lines, including iPhone, iPad, iMac, etc., are planning to launch new affordable models one after another. The iPhone SE is the first to debut, and the ultra-high CP value has made the pre-order response quite enthusiastic. There are also cheap new iPads and iMacs in the second half of the year, which makes the supply chain look forward to it.

According to the site, Quanta has landed to orders to assemble the new 23-inch iMac. The desktop's display panel is being supplied by LGD and the backlight module is from Ruiyi.

The 11-inch iPad will reportedly be produced by Hon Hai and Compal. Panel suppliers include LGD, Sharp and BOE, but LGD is the largest supplier. The backlight module comes from Ruiyi and the touch panel is from Chen Honghe.

The new iPad will allegedly begin mass production in Q3 while the iMac is planned for the end of Q3 and Q4.

The China Times says that although Apple had planned to update the high-end iPad Pro and MacBook Pro with mini-LED displays this year, the coronavirus pandemic may have pushed mass production of new backlight products to 2021. This conflicts with rumors from other sources which claim that the new 11-inch iPad will have a mini-LED display.
