Apple Accidentally Confirms AirTags in New Support Video

Apple has accidentally confirmed its rumored AirTags tracker in a new support video.

The video entitled "How to erase your iPhone" walks users through a factory reset. At the 1:40 mark users are instructed to turn off Find My iPhone. This can be done from the Settings > Name > Find My > Find My iPhone screen. Notice that the description under the 'Enable Offline Finding' toggle reads:

Offline finding enables this device and AirTags to be found when not connected to Wi-Fi or cellular.


Not only does this video confirm the upcoming tracking device, it also confirms the AirTags name.

Apple's tracker is expected to use ultra-wideband technology for improved positioning accuracy when paired with an iPhone 11. Previous reports have alleged that AirTags will be waterproof and use magnetic charging similar to the Apple Watch. At least one prototype device used a replaceable CR2032 battery.

We could see Apple unveil AirTags as early as WWDC 2020; however, the coronavirus outbreak could have an effect on the company's plans.
