Samsung Display has announced that it will end all LCD production in South Korea and China by the end of 2020, reports Reuters.

The tech giant had already suspended one of its two LCD production lines in South Korea amid falling demand for LCD panels.

“We will supply ordered LCDs to our customers by the end of this year without any issues,” the company said in a statement.

Last year, the Samsung announced plans to invest $10.72 billion in facilities and research to upgrade the Q1 production line on the Asan 1 campus. The new line will first start operation in 2021 with an initial 30,000 sheets and will produce 'QD displays' over 65-inches in size. The existing 8th generation LCD line will be gradually converted into a quantum dot line as well and its production capacity will be expanded by 2025.

Rival LG Display has also announced plans to stop LCD production in South Korea by the end of 2020.
