Foxconn Reaches Recruitment Goals Ahead of Schedule

Foxconn has announced that it has reached its recruitment goals 'ahead of schedule', securing enough workers to meet 'seasonal demand' at all its major Chinese plants, reports Nikkei. Foxconn is the primary assembler of iPhones and there was concern that the coronavirus outbreak would seriously hinder its production capabilities.
The company issued a statement Sunday night saying recruitment goals have been reached "ahead of schedule at the plants." This signals progress from early March when Chairman Young Liu told investors that Chinese plants were operating at roughly 50% capacity of normal.
Foxconn has instituted rigorous measures to prevent infection of its workers. So far 55,000 workers have received PCR coronavirus tests and over 40,000 have undergone chest x-rays.
Peak production for the iPhone 12 should occur after July at levels double that of February and March.
