Educational Math App for iPhone

Independent developer Esa Helttula has released a new educational math app Partial Sums Addition 1.0 for iPhone and iPod touch. The app can be used to teach and study the partial sums addition method.

The Partial Sums Addition Method:
The partial sums addition method is a two-step process. In the example 764 + 340, each place value is first added separately from left to right. The resulting addition 1000 + 100 + 4 produces the answer 1104. In the Everyday Mathematics curriculum the partial sums method is the focus algorithm for addition.

The Interface Supports Learning:
The app provides a passive form of positive reinforcement. If the user presses the wrong button the answer will appear above the keyboard but it will not move.

The app has the following settings:
* Each number can have from 2 to 3 digits
* There can be 2 or 3 numbers to add
* The current operation for each column can be hidden
* The operands of the current operation can be highlighted
* Colors of the interface can be changed
* The speed of the animations can be set

This is a new app in my series of popular educational math apps for iPhone. My traditional mathematics apps are Long Division, Long Multiplication, Column Addition and Column Subtraction. My other apps that use alternative algorithms are Trade-First Subtraction and Partial Differences Subtraction, both of which are used in the Everyday math curriculum.

Pricing and Availability:
Partial Sums Addition 1.0 is only $0.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Education category.
