Apple has shut down all stores in mainland China due to the Coronavirus, reports CNBC.
In a statement on Saturday, Apple said:
"Our thoughts are with the people most immediately affected by the Coronavirus and with those working around the clock to study and contain it."
"Out of an abundance of caution and based on the latest advice from leading health experts, we’re closing all our corporate offices, stores and contact centers in mainland China through February 9."
The online Apple Store will remain open during the retail store shutdown. Apple says it will be closely monitoring the situation and will reopen its stores 'as soon as possible'.
Besides the disruption to retail, there have been concerns that the Coronavirus could affect productions, particularly for the rumored iPhone SE 2.
So far over 12,000 people have been infected and over 250 people have died from the virus that was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei, China. In an attempt to slow the spread of the virus, numerous cities in China have been placed on full or partial lockdown.
