Apple has asked TSMC to produce more A-series chips for its iPhones due to stronger than expected demand, reports Bloomberg.
Even without fifth-generation wireless networking, iPhone demand has been outperforming the market and Apple’s expectations, and the company asked assembly partners to increase their production of the latest generation.
In particular, sources say that the iPhone 11 with an LCD screen, was a big driver of increased demand.
According to a recent CIRP report, the iPhone 11 accounted for 39% of U.S. iPhone sales last quarter. The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max accounted for an estimated 30% of sales.
