Leaked screenshots have surfaced that reveal a hidden 'Items' tab in the Find My app. The screenshots, obtained by MacRumors, corroborate reports that Apple is working on Tile-like tracking tag.

Similar to the existing "People" and "Devices" tabs in the Find My app, the "Items" tab will display a map at the top and a list of items associated with a user's Apple ID account at the bottom. The existing "Me" tab in the Find My app will be relocated to an avatar hovering over the map in all tabs.

Codenamed 'B389', the Apple Tag will let users track the location of their items. Apple encourages users to "tag your everyday items with B389 and never lose them again".

If you get separated from a tagged item, you'll receive a notification. You can then tap a button in the Find My app to have the tag start emitting an audible chime. Safe Locations can be set to prevent a notification if the item is left in those locations. A tag's location can also be shared with friends and family.

If you are unable to find your item, a tag can be placed into a "Lost Mode". If another iPhone user comes across the item, both the other user and you will be notified. Your contact information will be shared with the other user so they can reach you by phone or text.

It's likely that the tags will ultra-wideband technology for precise location data. The new iPhone 11 smartphones also support UWB, suggesting that we could see an Apple Tag unveiling in the near future.
