BMW is listing subscription fees for adding Apple CarPlay support to its new vehicles, reports Car and Driver.
The German automaker previously charged a one time $300 fee to add Apple CarPlay to a vehicle but last year announced plans to take the fee one step further.
Going forward, though, navigation-equipped BMWs will come with CarPlay at no charge for one year. Following that first year, customers will need to pay an annual fee of $80 to maintain the relationship between their Apple device and their BMW’s infotainment system.
BMW USA's ConnectedDrive site also lists a 240 month subscription for $300. Most customers will see these fees as ridiculous but it's unclear if their purchasing decision will be swayed.
