Apple's next generation 2019 iPhones are expected to gain a new Smart Frame photo feature and selfie camera slow motion video recording, reports 9to5Mac. Additionally, the new models are said to drop 3D Touch for an improved taptic engine.

It's likely that Apple will release three new 'iPhone 11' models this fall that all use an A13 chip. Internally this chip is known by its platform codename Cebu, model T8030. All three models will continue to use a Lightning port despite some speculation that Apple could switch to USB-C.

The ‘iPhone 11’ models are known as D42 (iPhone12,3) which will replace the iPhone XS; D43 (iPhone12,5) which will replace the iPhone XS Max; and N104 (iPhone12,1) which will replace the iPhone XR. D42 and D43 will have a 3x OLED Retina display, while N104 will still feature the 2x Liquid Retina display just like the current generation. All three iPhones will feature the same screen resolution as their predecessors.

Unfortunately, Apple plans to drop 3D Touch support; however, it will purportedly introduce a new type of Taptic Engine, codenamed 'leap haptics', which could help ease the transition.

As rumored, the 'iPhone 11' models will feature three cameras on the back in a rounded square camera bump. A new ultra wide-angle lens will enable a 'Smart Frame' feature that captures the area around your photo. This will allow for reframing after a picture is taken. The extra information is only saved for a limited period of time then automatically discarded for privacy reasons.

The site also predicts an upgrade to the front-facing camera that will add support for slo-mo recording at 120fps.

Apple is expected to unveil its new smartphones at a press event this fall. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for further updates.
