Factory Media, Europe's largest action sports media owner has announced the release of thirteen iPhone applications available for download from the iTunes 9 App Store. Factory Media's strategic partnership with Pixels Mags means the estimated 50 million iPhone and iPod users in 77 countries worldwide will now be able to choose from the following action sports magazine Apps: Moto, Onboard, Dirt, Boards, Cooler, Dig BMX, Kingpin, Ride UK BMX, Sidewalk, Surf Europe, The Surfers Path, The Bicycle Buyer and Whitelines.
Users will be able to download a free trial of the magazine when they download one of the Apps from apples iTunes App store. They will then be push notified when new magazines and offers are available allowing them to purchase individual magazines or subscriptions, as well as back issues. The App comes with interactive page flipping, where pages follow your fingers and a zoom feature, which overcomes the inherent problem of reading magazines on the mobile devices.
A sharing feature allows readers to share magazines with friends just like one would in the real world. Users will also get bookmarks, a contents page and search tools, which allows them to not only search the current magazine but all of the back issues too. Magazines can be read anywhere regardless of a data connection, essential for reading on the move on planes, tubes and even mountains...
Chris Talintyre, Factory Media's direct marketing manager said: "The fact that Apple has now received over 2 billion downloads is testament to the App Store as a digital distribution platform. The App Store offers the media industry a new opportunity to reach larger audiences, monetise content in a fair way, as well as offering advertisers new innovative ways of interacting with that audience. It also means that we can now distribute our content throughout the world in a democratised way, without the traditional barriers of hard copy distribution. Our partnership with Pixel Mags also reflects our commitment to providing the best experience for users who want to enjoy our magazines wherever they may be."
These developments follow hot on the heels of Factory Media's recent launch of an iPhone video App for MPORA- Europe's market leading video sharing and community platform for Action Sports. The new App expands MPORA's current 3.8 million monthly unique-user bases and is representative of their continued focus on technological advancement and growth. MPORA has already developed several new interactive features, including surf forecasting, and plans to roll out an innovative social networking platform soon.
Pricing and Availability:
Whitelines Magazine 1.0 is only $0.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Books category.
