Apple is reportedly considering the adoption of Samsung's OLED displays for its rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro and a new 11-inch iPad Pro, reports thelec.kr.

According to industry sources, Apple is considering adoption of OLED displays in its high-end "pro" models of notebook and tablet PC product lines. The new 16-inch 'MacBook Pro' with OLED display will be added to the notebook lineup and the existing 11-inch 'iPad Pro' display from LCD to OLED.

Samsung has reportedly presented rigid OLEDs with thin-film cap processes to Apple for evaluation.

Rigid OLEDs with a thin-film cap process do not require in-cap glass. The thickness becomes thinner as one glass is missing. In terms of thickness, it is a clear advantage over LCD. LCD adds two backlight modules to two glass. Thinning thickness can be used to secure the battery space of the Tablet PC with the design effect.

Apple was initially rumored to be releasing a new 16-inch MacBook Pro this year; however, that timeline has since been pushed back to 2021, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The launch of an updated 8-core MacBook Pro this week all but confirms we won't see a new model this year.
