Apple is planning to launch two new models of its popular AirPods by the end of this year or early next year, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Notably, one of those models is expected to feature an all-new design and a higher price.

We expect Apple will likely launch two new AirPods models in 4Q19 at the earliest. One is the all-new form factor design at a higher price. The other's outlook and price will be the same as the current model's. A common internal design factor of these two new AirPods will be to abandon the current "SMT+RFPCB" design and change to adopt the SiP design instead for improving assembly yield rates, saving internal space and reducing cost.

It's estimated that Apple will ship about 52 million AirPods this year and 75-85 million next year.

Kuo's report corroborates another from DigiTimes which also claimed Apple was gearing up to release new AirPods at the end of the year. The site predicted the new model would offer noise cancellation.
