The WSJ intends to join Apple's upcoming News subscription service, reports the New York Times. However, sources say other major publishers including the New York Times and The Washington Port have opted out.

The Wall Street Journal plans to join a new paid subscription news service run by Apple, according to two people familiar with the plans, as other publishers chafe at the terms that the Silicon Valley company is demanding of its partners.

Apple is expected to unveil the news subscription service on Monday, March 25th at a special event in Cupertino, California. The event will also be used to unveil a new video service.

'Apple News Magazines' will add a paid tier to Apple News that lets readers consume articles from hundreds of magazines and news outlets with a single subscription. Apple is purportedly demanding about 50% of subscription revenues something that has caused many news outlets to recoil. Publishers are also concerned about getting access to customer data, which Apple doesn't typically share.

The subscription is expected to cost around $10/month. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.
