Apple's long awaited AirPower wireless charging mat has purportedly entered production, claims ChargerLAB.
In a tweet, the site says it's heard from a credible source that Luxshare Precision has already started production.
Breaking: AirPower is finally coming. We just learned from credible source in supply chain that the manufacture Luxshare Precision has already started producing Apple AirPower wireless charging pad. Luxshare Precision is also the maker of Apple AirPods and USB-C cables.
Another source tells the site that Pegatron is set to begin mass production of the AirPower mat on January 21st.
Apple AirPower: Another source claims Pegatron is set to start mass produce AirPower at Jan 21. Pegatron is also an Apple OEM in Asia. The company employee says AirPower has total three layers of coils in 8-7-7 configuration from bottom to top.
The AirPower wireless charging mat is capable of charging three devices at once, for example, an iPhone, an Apple Watch, and AirPods. In was announced back in 2017 alongside the iPhone X with an expected release date in 2018 but Apple never made that deadline.
Today's production news does align with predictions from well respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who said AirPower was not abandoned and could launch in Q1 2019. Kuo also predicted the release of a wireless charging case for AirPods in early 2019.
