The iPhone X appears to have support for an Apple Smart Battery Case, adding weight to rumors that the company is planning to launch a new battery case for recent generation devices.
Reddit user Rationalspace787 modified an iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case to fit the iPhone X. Not only did it work with the iPhone X, iOS 12.1.2 displayed an icon for an iPhone X style battery case.
So I was recently given an iPhone 7 Battery case which was pretty banged up, so i decided to cut it up in an attempt to make an iPhone X version. I cut off all the sides & dremeled out the bottom so the X would fit in it. The phone does work with the case once I got it to fit, and I made an interesting discovery. iOS 12.1.2 already has the icon for an iPhone X style battery case.
A photo of the upcoming battery case for the iPhone XS leaked last month. Additionally, an icon of the case was spotted in watchOS 5.1.2 beta 2. There were indicators that Apple could launch the Smart Battery Case in 2018 but we've yet to hear anything official about it.
