Netflix has announced that new subscribers can no longer pay using iTunes.
Earlier this year, the streaming video site experimented with bypassing iTunes payments in over two dozen markets. That experiment is now complete and Netflix has rolled the change out globally.
“We no longer support iTunes as a method of payment for new members,” a Netflix spokesperson told VentureBeat.
Existing members can continue paying their subscription through iTunes; however, if you cancel your Netflix subscription for over a month, you won't be able to use iTunes billing when resubscribing.
The move will save Netflix the 15% cut that Apple takes from subscriptions sold via its platform. Netflix is one of the top revenue generating apps on the App Store so Apple can't be pleased with the development.
