The new Apple Pencil 2, which could debut tomorrow, will reportedly feature support for gestures.
Developers Guilherme Rambo and Steve Troughton-Smith have delved into iOS to uncover some details about the upcoming device.
Rambo recently tweeted, "Apple Pencil 2, model B332, will support gestures. The user will be able to change stroke properties by sliding along the sides of the pencil."
Troughton-Smith added some more detail, tweeting, "The Apple Pencil 2 slide gesture will let you change brush size & color on the fly — not the hardware changes I would have expected from a second-gen Pencil, but I kinda like the sound of this."
He adds, "The way I figure, the new Pencil will have a button of some sort on the side that when you hold down you can perform gestures with the Pencil — tap, double tap, or swipe. A solid state button sounds very Apple-y. Devs could perhaps use for radial contextual menus."
The new Apple Pencil 2 is expected to launch alongside new iPad Pro models which will likely feature Face ID, smaller bezels, and no Home button. Apple's event starts at 10am ET tomorrow, please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for live coverage.
