A new report from Nikkei claims that users will soon be able to wirelessly charge their iPhone using an AirPods charging case.
Users of iPhones will soon be able to wirelessly charge their handsets using the charging case for Apple's popular AirPods wireless earphones, according to an industry source familiar with the plan.
"The product could be available as soon as the end of this year," the source said. "However, the schedule is still subject to change."
Apple has revealed a new case for AirPods that can be charged by the coming AirPower charging mat; however, it has made no mention of the ability to wirelessly share that charge with an iPhone.
The AirPods battery is significantly smaller than that of an iPhone so its unlikely that the case would be able to provide much of a charge.
